Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is Jacksonville Campus Ministry (JCM)?
JCM is an inclusive and affirming Christian campus ministry serving students across Jacksonville, including the University of North Florida, Jacksonville University, Florida State College at Jacksonville, and Edward Waters University. We provide a space for spiritual growth, community, justice work, and healing.
-
Who can be part of JCM?
Anyone! We welcome students of all faith backgrounds— or none at all— who are curious about faith, seeking community, or simply need a safe space to be themselves.
-
Do I have to be Christian to participate?
Not at all. While we are rooted in the Christian tradition, many of our students come from a wide variety of spiritual and cultural backgrounds. We value questions, conversation, and mutual respect.
-
What kinds of events does JCM host?
Our core programs include Food for Thought (weekly meals with storytelling and conversation), Queer Bible Study, fall and spring retreats, community service opportunities, and social justice advocacy. We also offer special events like Sex Week, prayer labyrinth walks, and alumni gatherings.
-
What is Food for Thought?
Food for Thought is a weekly gathering where we share a meal and dive into meaningful conversations, often around themes of faith, identity, and justice. It’s a great way to meet new people and be nourished in more ways than one.
-
What is Queer Bible Study?
This is a Bible study specifically created to be a healing and affirming space for LGBTQIA+ students. We engage scripture through the lens of queer theology and lived experience.
-
Do you offer retreats or trips?
Yes! We host fall and spring retreats that offer students time away for rest, reflection, and connection. We also organize service trips and pilgrimages—sometimes even internationally.
-
Is housing available through JCM?
Yes. We provide affordable, supportive housing for college students in our Redeemer House community. Priority is given to students in need of stable housing and those aligned with our mission of hospitality and justice.
-
I’m struggling with religious trauma or questions about my identity and faith. Can JCM help?
Absolutely. Many students come to JCM carrying spiritual wounds. We are a community committed to healing, authenticity, and walking with people as they deconstruct, reconstruct, or just explore their beliefs.
-
How can I get more involved?
There are plenty of ways to get involved—from attending events to leading small groups, planning service projects, or joining our student leadership team. Just reach out!
-
Do you work with alumni or the wider Jacksonville community?
Yes! We have an active alumni group that gathers regularly for Bible study and service, and we collaborate with local congregations and justice organizations across the city.
-

-
Where is JCM located?
We don’t have a single building—we’re a movement across the city! Many of our events take place on campuses, in local churches, or at our student house in the Southside neighborhood.
